special needs residents

Since we began in the world of cat rescue, life opted to place cats with very difficult conditions in our path. And for this reason, we specialize in caring for and sheltering those we call Residents. Although we have a high number of residents, in this section you will only find those residents with special conditions. If you wish to sponsor one of them, just click on their picture. All help is greatly appreciated.

SPONSORED BY: EVA D. ORTIZ | Jaimito Luis is a cute but grouchy old cat who was rescued under terrible weather. It was difficult to trap him but we were able to after several months. His only condition at the time of rescue was Asthma, but the extended treatment of Prednisolone, caused him Diabetes. As for now, he's the most difficult resident to manage, but he's stable. He's also FIV+ and has Arthritis. To keep him in good health, he needs his asthma drug and Glycobalance dry food with Omega 3 or Dasuquin & preventives.

SPONSORED BY: DESIREE M. MUÑIZ | Dario was handed to us after we provided a low cost neuter to his owner. After surgery, his owner noticed he turned very aggressive. She couldn't handle him anymore so we took him in. Observing Darío, we noticed something wrong in his left eye. It was a deep wound his owner failed to care for and was mortifying him. We provided a special surgery due to the severeness of the wound. It was so serious that he could’ve develop cancer. After eye surgery, Darío became the sweetest boy. He also has gastrointestinal issues and mild arthritis and stomatitis. His care consists of Royal Canin Gastrointestinal and Dasuquin. Helping him monthly, you'll be helping also residents Paulito & Martinita.

Ella began her life in the most painful way: with three inflamed organs. With our care, Ella recovered. However, later on, her body developed Dental Resorption Syndrome, a condition in which the body, starting from the gums, reabsorbs the teeth and destroys them from the inside, causing pain and inflammation. In February 2025, Ella had to undergo the extraction of all her teeth. However, she still needs regular check-ups because the gum inflammation persists; is painful, and requires treatment. Ella has a Godparent that provides for her food, but she needs a Godparent for her check-ups.

Catalina is a kitten who was supposed to be a TNR. However, on the day of her spay, the veterinarian doctor noticed that this baby has stomatitis, an inflammatory condition that affects the gums. She also has feline leukemia, which complicates her prognosis. To avoid lasting suffering and the difficulty of trapping her later, it was decided to shelter her for the remainder of her life. The hope is that, even if her life is short, she will receive warmth, food, and love.

Whitie is a resident with chronic gastric problems. Although she isn't gaining weight and has unusual bowel movements, she is very lively, cheerful, exploratory, and a big eater. Sponsorship will help select an appropriate food for her.
